Systems
Index offer two main categories of green roof systems to suit different roof structures and landscape requirements.
Extensive: Light in weight with a shallow rootzone it is only capable of supporting hardy plants but requires little maintenance
Intensive: The only limitation to flowers, shrubs and trees planted in these roof gardens in the sky is the overall wet weight and live loadings that the building structure will bear for accessible recreation/leisure purposes. Index also offer Brown roof systems where natural seeding is promoted.
Index have published a detailed specification guide to Extensive green roofs and Intensive green roof gardens; they have been awarded CPD status by RIBA for their technical seminars and are a subscriber to the NBS Plus service which can provide instant access to standard specification clauses for Index membranes and systems.
