Who are Frosts?

Frosts Landscape Construction Ltd specialise in a number of markets. Traditional Hard & Soft Landscape schemes on the ground have been our main market since the early 1970's, but we have also installed many green roofs over the years, our first being over 25 years ago.

Since carrying out the award winning detail design and installation of the green roof for the GCHQ building in Cheltenham in 2004, the company has played a major part in installing some of the largest and most technical projects in the UK.

Securing large major roof garden projects, such as Neo Bankside and the Parkway Shopping Centre in Newbury (with a combined value of £4.5m), is based on the Client's confidence in the Landscaping Contractor to carry out all the detail design and deliver on time at the right quality. A proven track record puts Frosts in a strong position, with many of our schemes receiving recognition within the industry.

At the 2009 BALI Awards no fewer than four awards were collected, three of which were for roof gardens/green roofs. Vizion in Milton Keynes was a 7500m2 roof terrace above a large supermarket; and two awards were for the Ropemaker project in Moorgate, London. The judges commented:

"The degree of difficulty presented by this project has to be seen to be believed. The contractor was given a concept to turn into reality. It was a privilege to see the reality created by experts in their field."

Frosts Landscape Construction Ltd has been involved in the construction of hard and soft landscaping projects for over thirty five years. During this time we have carried out a diverse range of projects on the ground, on podium, and at height on many roof gardens up to the 20th floor, for a broad spectrum of clients.

We have worked as both main contractor and as subcontractor on projects ranging from lottery funded public parks, hospitals, schools, private estates, hotels, to Headquarters for organisations and new office developments.

Frosts were recently appointed to install a bespoke Green Roof (16,000m2 of grass) at the new Peacehaven Project (Water Treatment Works). After performing trials with a number of different substrates and demonstrating some fascinating results, our extensive horticultural knowledge proved to the client that we were best suited for such a project. We will provide updates on its progress in the coming months.

We are also proud to be carrying out several major landscape packages within the biggest construction site in the UK.

Frosts growing to new heights...

Frosts are pleased to announce that our very exciting Mint Hotel project is nearing completion. This building has a living wall of 1025m2 which extends up to the 11th floor (35m) and is the tallest in Europe. Since planting is on the North, South, East and West of the building, a wide range of plants that will tolerate all aspects has been used. The total of 180,000 plants which will be required to complete the project have all been grown off-site for a period of six months prior to installation.

We are currently installing the extensive Green Roof of the hotel which is a combination of Sedum and Wildflower plugs of some 350m2. There are very few buildings in the city with such a high percentage of green infrastructure as the City Inn, and we are very proud to be involved in the detailed design and development of this package. Frosts have donated a number of Bee Walls to the client which will be situated on the roof (11th floor).
