Reason for Green Roof |
Site conditions dictated that the unit should be incorporated into the landscaped area to the west of the Site. This was achieved by the application of a 'sedum roof' construction which slopes to the West to camouflage this building from view. Additionally water is collected from the roof for use in the toilets and the green element provides preliminary filtering of solid particles and air borne pollutants prior to its use. Build up of Roof |
The waterproofing comprised Axter's ALPAFLORE two layer polyester reinforced polymer modified bitumen roof membranes incorporating anti-root additives. Axter's pre-planted modular tray HYDROPACK was chosen for speed of application and as part of the roof sloped there was no instability risk from storm water before the establishment of the plants as would have happened with other designs. |

Comments |
The green roof enables Everything Office to achieve its objective in cutting CO2 emissions, energy bills and water consumption and resulted in them winning the Construction and Renovation Category of the EDF Energy sponsored National Energy Efficiency Awards 2008. |
