Axter specialises in the design and manufacture of high quality, fully integrated robust membranes for roofing and for the waterproofing of basements and civil engineering structures, to suit a variety of aesthetic and performance criteria including living roofs
Design
The company possesses an unrivalled degree of technical and design expertise and has been established for more than 30 years at the forefront of innovation and quality in the field of engineered waterproofing systems. Introductions include the use of polymer (SBS) modified bitumen membranes, self adhesive waterproofing membranes and more recently the introduction of photovoltaic cells embedded into the top layer of a multi-layer waterproofing system.
Axter encourages the principles of value engineering through design to ensure best value is achieved by our clients. Through early design and specification participation in projects Axter guarantees delivery of cost effective solutions to meet the most onerous of design briefs and budgets.
Green roofing
Axter's ALPAFLORE (warm roof) and WILOTEKT-PLUS (inverted roof) insulated waterproofing systems are perfectly adapted to the needs of green roofs with particular resistance to impact, root action, fertilizers and insecticides.
They can be used under all forms of accessible and inaccessible green roofs including the use of hard surfacing on all types of supporting structure; concrete, plywood, OSB, profiled metal...
Axter's team has the design flexibility to create outstanding green roofs and can call upon a vast array of waterproof membranes, thermal insulation, drainage and reservoir boards, filter layers, soil and growing medium, as well as roof greening (sedum and wildflower mats, HYDROPACK pre-grown trays, plug plants etc) to meet any client requirement.
Extensive Green Roof Systems offered by Axter include:
Hydrolite: Lightweight system for profiled metal decks Cost-effective, minimum thickness, easy installation, can be pre-cultivated
Hydrosoil: Biodiverse, adaptable system Landscape opportunities, natural habitat, wide choice of plant species, suitable for brown roofs
Hydropack: Pre-planted modular tray containing all green roof elements Easily installation and removal for maintenance or relocation, recycled materials, pre-grown vegetation
Intensive Green roof systems
In general the design of intensive / amenity green roofs is coordinated between Axter and specialist landscape architects and contractors in accordance with client requirements.
Brown roofs
Ground level brown field sites are amongst the most biodiverse green spaces in the country. To some extent this biodiversity can be replicated on the roof to provide habitat for a wide range of invertebrates and birds, including the rare black redstart. Axter can offer a wide range of technical solutions to produce the required habitat which often enables waste materials from the site to be recycled.
Continuous Professional Development
RIBA approved Green Roof CPDs are freely offered for presentation in your premises. Please contact Axter - details below.
