Comments

An “extensive green roof system” was proposed for the flat roofs to the side wings of the building.  These were finished in self-maintaining sedums, constructed using low maintenance vegetation such as sedum, succulents and indigenous herbs, to provide a living, colourful and sustainable finish.  It is not a roof garden for recreation but primarily planted for ecological reasons as well as importantly providing significant protection to the waterproofing system.  The green roof provides a cooling mass in the summer and control of rainwater run off in storms.  They are easy to create, economical to install and require a relatively low level of future maintenance.
